The monastic movement was (and is) a religious community that in a special way made room for God by shutting out the world. At the same time monasteries were centers of research worked as hospitals. A community which today may seem mysterious and sometimes mythic. What's the story behind the Christian monastic movement, and has the movement is in fact stalled? What can we as a students in 2017 learn from these powerhouses of spiritual wisdom and insight?
